      When Berger joined MIT in , she was studying the political ideologies of French peasants, and she has published multiple books and articles about French and European society and politics, including “Peasants Against Politics,” (), “The French Political System,” (), and “Dualism and Discontinuity in Industrial Societies. Michael Piore has been on the faculty of the Department of Economics at MIT since , and also currently holds a joint appointment with the Department of Political Science. He is also currently a Visiting Senior Fellow in International and Public Affairs at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University.
